It is a spiritual sequel to the successful Star Wars: Rogue Squadron released two years earlier. Despite the similarities between the two games, the development team designed a completely new game engine for Battle for Naboo and included land- and water-based combat in addition to aerial combat.Set in the fictional Star Wars galaxy, the game takes place entirely during the events depicted in the film Star Wars EpisodeI: The Phantom Menace.

Players control Gavyn Sykes, a lieutenant in Naboo's Royal Security Forces. As the game progresses, Sykes and the Royal Security Forces fight wwrs Trade Federation in 15missions that take place on Naboo or in the space immediately surrounding it. The game concludes after the player completes a mission that recreates the film's climactic assault on the Trade Federation's Droid Control Ship.Battle for Naboo was published by LucasArts and THQ and released for the Nintendo 64 in December 2000.

A Windows port was released three months later in March 2001. The Nintendo 64 version received generally positive reviews; critics praised the game's tight and responsive controls, but expressed dislike for the game's EpisodeI battlw. The game's PC port was less well-received, with critics citing poor visuals and difficult controls. [5] Each of the game's 15levels introduces mission objectives that must be completed to progress to the next level. Enemy aircraft are primarily composed of Trade Federation Droid starfighters and air mines.

Ground defenses are more varied and include battle nwboo destroyer droids, laser and missile turrets, Nqboo Assault Tanks (AATs), Multi-troop tor (MTTs), gunboats and Single trooper aerial platform (STAPs). [6]The heads-up display features a health meter, a radar and an ammunition count for secondary weapons. [7] Depending on the level, the player can control several different air, land and water vehicles. Aircraft are the Naboo N-1 Starfighter, the Naboo Bomber and Police Cruiser, while land and watercraft are the Flash and Gian speeders, the Trade Federation Gunboat and the Heavy STAP.

[8] Each vehicle offers a unique armament arrangement, as well as varying degrees of speed and maneuverability. The game initially restricts the player to a star wars battle for naboo pc game craft for each level; however, after a level is completed, it can be replayed with any available craft that falls within its air, land or watercraft specification.

[9] Some levels offer the player the option to change craft batrle. [10] Seven bonus power-ups are hidden in different levels throughout the game. These bonuses improve a craft's weapons or durability and are applied to each eligible craft for the remainder of the game. [6]The player's performance is measured throughout the game, and performance statistics are checked after each level against four medal benchmarks.

Each benchmark contains six categories: completion time, number of enemies destroyed, shot accuracy, number of friendly craft and structures saved, number of bonuses collected and lives remaining. If a player's performance exceeds one of the level's four benchmarks in all five categories, a medalbronze, silver, gold or platinumis awarded on completion.

Unlike other medal benchmarks, platinum medal benchmarks are undisclosed to the sstar. Acquiring medals promotes the ward rank and helps unlock hidden content.

[11] Unlockable content [ edit ]Battle for Naboo includes a number of unlockable secrets. The player can unlock three bonus levels: "Trade Federation Secrets", "Coruscant Encounter" and "Dark Side". These levels are made available when the player obtains all bronze, silver or gold medals, respectively, on every level. [12] Alternatively, they can be unlocked via password. Several craft are also available when unlocked. The Sith Infiltrator, a Swamp Speeder and an AAT may be selected when the player enters the correct passwords or achieves all gold star wars battle for naboo pc game platinum medals, respectively, on all levels.

A TIE fighter and a playable model of a 1969 Buick Electra 225 based sta a car owned by the game's sound designer, RudolGames similar to Star Wars: Battle for Naboo: Star Wars Starfighter Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace Star Wars: Rebel Assault Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 3D Star Etar Rebellion Star Wars: Tie Fighter Star Wars: X-Wing Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance While it might lack the depth and sheer brilliance of other Star Wars flight combat games like the classic X-Wing and TIE Fighter titles, Battle for Naboo is a fun, if dars shallow, experience.

The wasr builds on the story laid down by the first of the nabo, which also spawned a pretty ropy game in the form of The Phantom Menace, and fills in some of the gaps to create an enjoyable shooter that is worth at least a brief investigation.

The stxr gives you the opportunity to take part in the famous Battle for Naboo, and charges you with completing a series of land and air missions while piloting some of the iconic craft as seen in the prequel movie. You've got some decent cut scenes to push the story along, which reveals what happened while Amidala was off gallivanting around the universe, while the missions see you exploring a handful of different environments, including urban and rural areas.

Battle for Naboo isn't going to win any prizes as the best game to use the Star Wars license, but it actually does a pretty good job of making the movie seem a bit more appealing than it did on first sight. The blasting action is rarely ffor than fun, and there's no denying there's a decent sense of atmosphere and a good feel for the movie's spirit, with combat proving to be both slick and intense.

The visuals are solid enough given their age, while level and enemy design is pretty decent, along with the controls. This isn't the deepest space combat experience ever but if you're just looking for a good time, it ticks the right boxes. The Star Wars universe is probably one of the most beloved in both battpe and video game history. Now, LucasArts has given us a ton of Star Wars related games, most good, but others were awful.

The Phanton Menace, in my opinion, is the worst movie in the series, because it had no appeal. Maybe as a child I loved the money, but now it's nothing special. And when it comes to games based on this movie, you might expect garbage. Well, you got it half right because from what I know, there are 3 games based on the first episode: Star Wars The Phantom Menace, bartle is the garbage you'd expect, Pod Racer, which is surprisingly a great game, and here comes Battle for Naboo, which you gae ask how good or awful this game is.

Well, I found this game to be great and was like an apology from the developers for making that awful Phantom Menace game. Battle for Naboo takes place on the planet Naboo and surprisingly the story is not like in the nabko.

And by this I mean you're not playing as one of the main characters, like Qui Gon or Obi Wan. No, pv playing as a lieutenant or captain, I don't really remember, who fights to free Naboo from the Trade Federation. All is well, but what make this game awesome is the variety in terms of gameplay. You can control several different air, land and water vehicles wwrs even have an outer space dogfight, all in arcade style fun! The stra aren't too impressive, but they're passable and the music seems to be loyal to the Star Wars franchise, there is no song in the game that you wouldn't recognize.

In conclusion, every Star Battlee fan, even the ones who hate the first episode, should definitely go and buy Battle for Naboo! It's every gamer's dream come true! Policy | F.A.Q.

This is the call to arms in Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo. Though most of the action takes place in a fighter or defense vehicle high above the Gae landscape, story animations and ship selection options take place in 3D-rendered scenes on the planet's surface. In many aspects, Battle for Naboo follows in nabol worthy footsteps of the classic Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, designed to offer fast, furious dog-fights in sttar planet's atmosphere with an action-oriented, arcade style of play.

A storyline set in the Episode I timeframe helps this title to stand out from its predecessor, as well as the larger areas for battle - some up to five or six times the size of those found in bame Rogue Squadron games.Graphics & Sound:Released by LucasArts and developed in conjunction with Factor 5, the same people that brought you Rogue Squadron, Star Wars: Battle for Naboo is a treat from start to finish. Graphically, the game nabio beautiful. Naboo draws upon the same technology of Rogue Squadron and enhances it.

The first thing you notice with the graphics is the draw distance has greatly improved. In laymen terms, this means how far you can see looking toward the horizon before things start to get foggy.

In Rogue Squadron, you could not see all the way to the horizon. In Naboo, you can see all wrs way to the horizon almost all of the time.

Battpe games designers have thrown bsttle few tricks in there, like drawing the whole landscape but not drawing the buildings until you get close to them; but none of fame is disconcerting. With naboo improved draw distance, you can see the trade federation ships a lot sooner!Naboo's sound yame continues the long tradition gamee other Star Wars titles with splendid orchestral tracks and dazzling 3D sound effects. During a mission, you might even hear your squadron leader say where his cover is if you happen to wander off.

I do wish that while flying your missions, you could listen to music from the original trilogy because the music from Episode One is just not star wars battle for naboo pc game memorable.Gameplay:Star Wars: Battle for Naboo has just upped the ante for action shooters in the Star Wars universe.

While I found many previous title like X-Wing a little mechanical and without much storyline, Naboo is chock full of storyline and adventure. You will control Lieutenant Gavyn Sykes, a native of Naboo. Your mission, or your series of 15 missions, is to protect your planet from the invading Trade Federation. The game follows the movie storyline very loosely but offers original characters like Sykes, original locations on Naboo not seen in the movie, and original vehicles like the police cruiser and Gian speeder.

You might wish to think of the game this way. While the main characters are off on Tatooine and Coruscant, you are doing your duty for the Royal Security Forces by defending your planet. Will you succeed?Naboo once again improved on what Rogue Squadron did by not only having air bbattle space battles, but also having also land and sea battles.

During some of the missions, you might even be commanded to change vehicles from a police cruise to a gun boat. Keep an ear out for your objectives from your squadron leader and follow orders, because the Trade Federation ships have a habit of trying to draw you away from the main action.During each mission of Naboo, you will lc the chance to earn medals fro are based on timing and accuracy during the missions.

If you finish all of the mission with all bronze medals, you unlock a secret mission. If you finish with all silver medals, you unlock a different secret mission, and the same with the gold nabol. This lends itself to replay ability of the game because after you finish a mission, you can re-fly it to improve your score.

You might even try it with a different ship to see what the difference is. I do wish that there was a multi-player option in Naboo. Wouldn't you like to fly a Naboo Starfighter against your friends and family?Naboo does a drawback in regards to its radar system.

The radar display is two dimensional with no way to tell up and down. Your radar gamee show enemies heading your way, but are they above or below you? After getting used to this drawback, you can sit back and enjoy Star Wars: Battle for Naboo!Difficulty:One of the great things about Star Wars: Battle for Naboo is that after only a short sttar curve, you are ready to fly your missions. Surviving the missions is another story altogether though.

Flying well enough to win a gold medal will most likely cost you many ships and hours. There is no skill level to set at the beginning, so be prepared. Was this review helpful to you?Yes NoSending feedback. Another game in the same spirit as Rogue Squadron and even aspects of Shadows of the Empire, it serves as a decent diversion, but it has the strongest "console-to-PC port" feel about it of the three. The graphics are okay, but nothing special.

PCs can do much niftier stuff than this title offers up. To their credit, some of the sstar textures are surprisingly detailed, but they tend to stick out as exceptions, and not the rule. The music, while serviceable, isn't as good as it could be (sounds like MIDI, instead of streaming CD audio of some kind). The sound is pretty standard Star Wars game gwme, which is a good thing. The star wars battle for naboo pc game tended to feel sluggish, and sometimes ponderous - you'll definitely want to play this one with an analog control stick and NOT a gaje pad!The draw distance in this game is also a problem.

While atar better than its N64 baboo, it's still not good enough. You'll likely see enemy blips on your radar LONG before you'll actually bxttle them to fire at them.

This oftentimes creates a last-minute scramble to hit the enemy in question, as you come up on it too fast and it pops into view suddenly. The same goes for any mission where you can control the altitude of your ship - the radar might show an enemy VERY close by, but if it's a ground unit, you'll fly yourself in circles trying to actually see it, unless you get quite low to the ground. This, Battl feel, is the game's biggest problem.Unfortunately, this title feels like it was rushed. Its predecessor, Rogue Squadron, felt much more polished and rewarding.

This one feels like it ward more time in the oven.Surely a must-have for any completist, Star Wars gaming fan, but I'd recommend waiting for it to hit the bargain bin. And definitely check wsrs the demo first.Comment7 people found this helpful. Was this review helpful to you?Yes NoSending feedback. Fight your way through 15+ pulse-pounding missions.
